Different Kinds of Skin Yeast Infections

The most common skin yeast infections are those caused by Candida. These skin yeast infections are collectively known as candidiasis. There are different kinds of candidiasis depending on which surface of the body it is occurring. The following are the usual skin yeast infections that many people suffer from.

Thrush. This refers to skin yeast infections of the mouth and throat. People with thrush usually have white patches in the mouth. This kind of infection is usually experienced by those who have chronic diseases like HIV/AIDS and diabetes.

Perl éche. This refers to the condition in which the skin around the mouth softens and develops deep creases because of yeast infection.

Intertrigo. One of the commonly occurring skin yeast infections, intertrigo happens on the folds of the skin. It is usually observed on the underarms, under the breasts, in the groin area, and under the folds of the abdominal skin for obese persons. Cuts or openings in the skin give way for yeast infection.

Candidal body rash. Diabetics who are confined in the hospital may experience skin yeast infections like body rash. This condition is often a result of taking in antibiotics, too much sweating, and lack of movement.

Candidal paronychia. This infection occurs on the nail folds and causes them to swell or be inflamed. Sometimes the swelling is accompanied by pus.

Candidal diaper rash. Babies also experience skin yeast infections. This particular diaper rash results from the disruption of the skin’s integrity because of the frequent presence of moisture in the area.

Candidal vulvovaginitis. This is one of the skin yeast infections that many women experience. The symptoms of this condition include itching, irritation, redness, and a burning sensation.

People with skin yeast infections should seek medical attention when their immune systems begin to weaken. A weak immune system increases one’s risk for an overgrowth of Candida, which can enter the blood or the internal organs.
